Work/ Life Balance

www.annette-young.com

There is no doubt that freelancing writing can be all consuming and this can be a little daunting for those who are looking at taking the plunge from the traditional daily grind of working life.
After all, one of the reasons freelance writing appeals to so many is that you can choose the hours you want to work.
Sadly, the pitfall with freelance writing is that you do have to take the work when it is available and this can mean suddenly becoming innundated with work and yet at other times, there .....

Writer's Block

www.write-fiction.com

I am always being asked what writer’s block is, why it occurs and how to overcome it quickly and easily and those new to writing appear to become especially concerned about suffering with this creative affliction. Quite simply, although it can be caused by any number of reasons, the negative aspects are that it can substantially halt any creative output because the words do not wish to flow.

Find a Writing Buddy

If I said that writing can be a lonely occupation, I doubt there would be few who would disagree with me, but it doesn’t have to be that way.

Havant Literary Festival - 25 September - 4 October 2009

This year, the Festival has more than doubled in size and we have a host of top names already confirmed including Fay Weldon, Stella Duffy, Maggie Gee, Michael McCarthy, Claire Armitstead and Louis de Bernières and the Antonius Players. We also have three sub-themes:

Crime - this enduringly popular genre will be thoroughly explored through talks, workshops and indeed, cake! We also have a whole strand featuring Arthur Conan Doyle, creator of the world’s most famous detective, Sherlock Holmes.

Water - has been an inspiration for artists and writers since time immemorial in all its guises, from floodplains to teardrops. The Borough of Havant has a special affinity with water as its history, heritage and economy are interwoven with the spring-dependent activities of parchment-making, tanning and brewing, and the saltwater industries of oyster production and fishing.
Journeying - Havant Arts and Heritage Centre opens this autumn with some wonderful shoe exhibitions and shoe-related activities. We’ve expanded on this theme to explore all kinds of journeys, pathways and travel.
